(preliminary) Neighborhood Networks Website

Here. It's not finished yet, but we're looking for feedback -- and feedback from folks not already that familiar with our group, since that is the target audience, would be most valuable. Show it to your friends and families, and get back to me with comments.

Looks ok but seems to be a lot of work to start from scratch. And right now it seems to be intentionally vague--there doesn't seem to be a burning issue here to motivate people (i know, the issues are going to come from the grassroots) which could be a problem in terms of getting people to show up. What do you think will be the relationship to the current Democratic Party? I understand the frustration with the Dems and the desire to work outside and influence it that way, but I'd rather work from within. On the other hand, there's no reason you can't do both I guess.

Well, there's an ongoing debate as to whether to identify issues beforehand, in order to get people interested, or to follow the principles, and let the issues be generated from the grassroots once the "body politic" is formed. As for working inside the Dem party -- many of these folks have spent years doing so, and feel that particularly in this city, it's kind of a lost cause. Better to form a strong group of real progressives, and use the power of that group to pressure the Dems to really get behind progressive stances, or support the running of new candidates. Yeah, doing both where doing both works -- where "illiberal" Dems are the only realistic choice to Republicans, support them, (read Casey), when other options are realistic, pursue other options. As for the feedback, what did you think of the website itself - layout, usability, clarity of content, etc. (understanding that it is still a work in progress).

Ok fair enough. The Web site itself looks fine. Well, compared to what's out there, it looks a bit amateurish and non-corporate, but that's who you are so I don't think that matters. You might just want to make sure all the links work, a few I clicked on didn't. A lot of sites have message boards now.
