to help keep blogs from forcing the NY Times out of business. Here is a link to a Times article that discusses how the Bush administration launched frenetic efforts to spin the fact that Judge Roberts actually helped a group protect the civil rights of gays and lesbians (he's a bad, bad boy!).

I was somewhat undecided about your "choose your battles" argument against battling Roberts, but I listened to 1210 on the ride home, and listening to the exact "Souter-esq" argument you mentioned is getting me leaning in that direction. They were actually saying that they feel it is important that Roberts be asked very specific questions about his record -- a complete 180 from the standard conservative line.
And just because I can't let that Posner article go, this is further proof that he was wrong in his argument that the MSM was shying away from specific discussion regarding Roberts' record.
