Reid Threatens Filibuster on Immigration

Ok archair strategists and progressive purists. How should the Dems position themselves on immigration? Are you with the Dems on this or is what they are doing not progressive enough?

BREITBART.COM - Reid Threatens Filibuster on Immigration: "Reid said the overhaul must include heightened border enforcement, a 'guest worker' program and a 'path to citizenship' for the estimated 11 million people in the United States illegally. He called legislation by Sens. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., and John McCain, R- Ariz., a 'good place to start.'"

It's not clear to me where Reid stands on this. The bill does have tightened border security in it, so is the threatened filibuster because it doesn't have a "guest worker" program? If so, that seems like a very pro-business/pro-immigrant stance, which seems to be against what "middle America" wants.

Since both sides seem to want tighter border security, I guess it doesn't matter what I think.

Hmmm. "progressive purists" I wonder who that might be.

Interesting question. He's clearly pandering to the "war on terrerrr" and anti-immigrant border hysteria - but he's also sticking his neck out by mentioning guest worker programs and "path to citizenship."

So I'm going to wait for Libby E to figure it out and then go along with him.
