Turning Point?

The word turning point is coming up a lot in these stories. Yet I've seen very little tv coverage of Sheehan. CNN has turned into the Gaza pullout channel, and the locals are obsessed with Terrell Owens.

Again, I refer you to one of the more popular "media" channels for America, The Daily Show. If you don't regularly watch it, you might want to give it a shot, if only for the laughs, which are significant. They did a story on it last night that cribbed together a lot of the pundit comments, basically, to show that the rep. party spin machine is in full swing. It is great the way they show the exact same phrase popping up in the mouths of various right-wing pundits as part of the control the message campaign. That said, they then blast a lot of the "logic" of the criticism, with some nift footage of Bush saying that while he respects her position, he needs to move on with his life. That is a pretty exact quote by the way. The point is, Laz, the coverage on this is there, just not enough weight to hold any more than a 2 to 3 minute update. Doesn't really lend itself to a detailed story without a network coming down on one side of the issue or another. And finally, one of my personal change indicators did happen. Viggo Mortensen stopped by her protest to offer his support, so you know, once Aragorn gets involved, sh#$ starts to happen.
